You can find a variety of them made with a variety of flours and techniques in any region of India. To the extent that I can comprehend, for any laddoo produced using utilizing flour, the flour should be simmered till fragrant and during the broiling system, a specific measure of fat like ghee is utilized to cook the flour while cooking. A laddoo is made by binding the sweetened roasted flour into round shapes with additional fat. Since I am not a fan of laddoos and neither my husband nor I are particularly fond of them, I have never attempted to make them. I had to make these to take to my parents and aunts for Diwali because they all love them. Each batch makes 10 because this particular discussion on Diwali treats went on and on about the quick and easy microwave besan laddoos. I followed the recipe exactly for the first batch, only increasing the microwave time because the flour did not appear to have been roasted to my satisfaction within the time specified in the recipe. As I observed the laddoos made in my family to be much drier, I realized that the amount of ghee needed to make the laddoos could be significantly reduced from the original 1/3 cup. Maaladoo – Make delicious besan laddoos in the microwave in just five minutes! Try it! Besan (gram flour), ghee, powdered sugar (known in Bombay as “Pithi Saakhar”), cardamom powder, and cashew halves fried in a little ghee serve as decorations. Combine the ingredients in a large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 5 minutes on HIGH, stirring every minute. [ If the power of your machine is low, add two more minutes. Remove the flour from the oven and allow it to cool completely when it appears to be richly aromatic and slightly darker in color. This could take up to 30 minutes.; Once cooled, add 1/2 cup powdered sugar [NOT icing sugar], with cardamom powder into the broiled flour. Form 10 balls by thoroughly kneading and topping each one with a slice of fried cashew; These will solidify as they cool. Keep in a tightly sealed container;
1 cup gram flour, 1/4 cup ghee, 1/2 cup powdered sugar (sold in Bombay during festival times as ‘Pithi Saakhar’), 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder, 10 cashew nuts, ghee, fried cashew halves for decoration Instructions: Combine the besan and ghee in a large, microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 5 minutes on HIGH, stirring every minute. [ If your machine’s power is low, add two more minutes.
Remove the flour from the oven and allow it to cool completely when it appears to be richly aromatic and slightly darker in color. This will take upto 30 minutes.
Add cardamom powder and 1/2 cup powdered sugar to the roasted flour when it has cooled, but not icing sugar. Form 10 balls by thoroughly kneading and topping each one with a fried cashew.
As they cool, these will harden. Use an airtight container to store.
