Ras Al Khaimah, UAE: For the third time, the country’s weight loss competition returns with a vengeance, offering cash prizes worth Dh50,000 to the top finishers.
The RAK Biggest Weight Loss Challenge (RBWLC) 2023, a popular community initiative launched by RAK Hospital and the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) Ras Al Khaimah, continues the campaign to raise awareness of obesity, the biggest epidemic of our time.
The organizers announced on Monday that the eight-week challenge, during which over 10,000 people competed for the top spots last year, will begin on January 20 and conclude on March 22 with an awards ceremony honoring the winners.
There are three distinct divisions in the competition: corporate, online, and physical, with exciting prizes for winners in each category. The number of cash prizes has been increased, giving more contestants a chance to win and encouraging people to “Lose Big, Win Big.”
Prizes galore for everyone There will be a corporate team competing for the “Champions Trophy,” and there will be three male and three female winners in both the physical and virtual categories.
This time, in addition to the largest losers in the male and female physical categories, the second and third runners-up also receive cash prizes. For each kilogram lost, the first, second, and third position holders will receive Dh300, Dh200, and Dh100, respectively.
The top three male and female winners in the virtual category also have a chance to win a lot of prizes, including free staycations, health and vacation packages, dining vouchers, gym memberships, and other appealing prizes. In addition, prizes are available for those who lose the most weight in both the physical and virtual categories.
Improving quality of life, according to RAK Hospital executive director Dr. Raza Siddiqui: By decreasing the prevalence of obesity, the Annual Weight Loss Challenge at RAK Hospital aims to improve individuals’ and society’s quality of life by reducing the burden of chronic and lifestyle diseases. We want people to know that regular exercise and controlling one’s diet can prevent and reverse obesity, and this challenge is meant to encourage people to become healthier by leading healthy lifestyles.
The following was stated by Prof. Adrian Kennedy, chief wellness officer of Arabian Wellness and Lifestyle Management, the wellness division of RAK Hospital: Since two-thirds of UAE residents are overweight or obese, such efforts are urgently needed to encourage people to take charge of their health. We hope that this one will have a greater impact on people’s lives than the previous one, which was a huge success.
How to participate Prof. Kennedy elaborated on the competition, stating that the Physical Category weighing-in will take place at RAK Hospital between January 20 and 22. On the other hand, UAE residents who want to participate in the contest but are unable to attend the actual event can do so through the “Virtual Category,” where they weigh in at their local clinic and upload the verified registration form to the contest website. Additionally, participants in the “Corporate Teams Challenge” category can participate if they enjoy working in teams and require motivation to lose weight.
In addition, the challenge’s weekly webinars, which will be held as part of the competition, are intended to provide participants with the necessary information and education for better weight management.
Now is the time to sign up. On the RAK Weight Loss Challenge website, you can find more information about the challenge, the rules, and the webinars.
